It comes to pass that our animals love getting into weird positions and angles, and some of these can be our favourite family snaps!
When we think about professional photography, however, sometimes it can feel a bit formal, like a stiff portraiture of old, but I’m going to show you a few quirky angles that my clients have loved!

Sticking with the months theme, for now, Septembears is always a popular one! Whether it’s dogs, cats, or even hamsters, there’s something about a set of ears that can convey so much emotion and personality.
One of my favourite photos I’ve ever taken of my sister’s dog, Nucky, is actually the back of her head! We were on holiday and Fee (my sister) had run across the beach, Nucky stuck her ears up to watch her and the light perfectly caught them, most people might look at a photo like that and think, why take a photo of the back of her head? We look at it and know exactly what she was thinking and feeling at that moment. It’s a great reminder that the family knows their pet the best.
They say that the eyes are the window to the soul, and with pets, that’s no different. Whilst we may not be able to speak the same “language” as our pets, there’s something about capturing their beautiful expressions that speak to us on a deeper level.
Have you ever said “he’s thinking about…” or “look, she feels…”. We know what our pets are thinking and what they mean from just a look or a tilt of the head. When having your pet’s photograph taken, I always do my best to get that special expression from them, whether that’s an “I love you” expression or “I want that treat!”.
Is your cat a feind for that bit of ribbon? Does your dog give a high five or play dead? Whatever the trick is, it can be great to capture them on camera! From action shots of agility training to a high five with a shy pup. Capture these special moments to keep you smiling forever!
